As Canada’s smallest province, our reputation for arts, culture, education, and living greatly exceeds our physical size. Individuals and families from 90 different cultures have chosen to call this island “home.”
We’ve been told that there’s something special about PEI. It’s a uniqueness that’s intriguing yet hard to put into words. Maybe it’s about our communities that are small and welcoming, yet big on hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. Or perhaps it’s the vitality for life that persists here at work and at play.
With a population of just over 170,000, our size keeps us genuine, nimble and well connected. The coastal and pastoral beauty of Prince Edward Island draws visitors here, but people choose to stay because of our small-town feel, non-existent rush hours, short drives to work, low crime rate, and quality of education.
Prince Edward Island is also called the “Garden Province” with acres and acres of gentle farmland, national, provincial and community parks, trails, and unlimited wide-open spaces.
Where people live and work
Our capital city, Charlottetown, is growing economically, culturally and socially and is home to more than 65,000 people. With a bustling technology hub, service industry and public sector, many people make the short commute from rural communities for work.
